Services for Attorneys
Many attorneys do not enjoy or are too busy for detailed legal
research or appellate litigation, and may prefer to share much of
the work required. My practice is devoted to assisting small firms
and solo attorneys who find themselves involved in an appellate
case or significant research project.
Because my practice is primarily legal research and appellate litigation,
I am an efficient researcher and writer. This means both lower cost
and higher quality for you and your client. It also means that you
maintain your client relationship.
I may be able to help your practice by providing a number of services:

APPELLATE BRIEFS |
|
| |
 |
It is difficult for an attorney with a busy practice
to find the uninterrupted time it takes to do quality
appellate-level research and write a brief. This is
especially true if your client's case poses a new or
important constitutional or statutory question, requires
a state-by-state comparison of law, or involves legislative
history.
I can furnish a well researched, well documented, well
written, and good-looking brief. |

APPELLATE ADVOCACY |
|

 |
Some attorneys are simply not interested in appellate
litigation. Moreover, separate appellate counsel may
improve your client's case because the appellate attorney
was not involved with trial strategy decisions and therefore
is not colored by them.
I can seamlessly assume your client's case and conduct
the appeal from notice of appeal through final decision.

TRIAL MOTIONS & MEMORANDA, PRE-COMPLAINT &
NON-LITIGATION RESEARCH |
|
| |
 |
Your client's case may pose a new or important question
of law which needs to be fully presented to the trial
court. It is often difficult, however, for an attorney
with a busy trial calendar to find the time to assemble
more than cursory motions.
I can provide you with motions to dismiss, motions
for summary judgment, other pre-trial motions, memoranda
of law, objections, motions to reconsider, notices of
appeal, and other pleadings. I can conduct pre-complaint
research so you can advise your client on the chances
for success if suit is commenced, and so you can later
conduct discovery focused on the precise legal elements
your case presents. I also do non-litigation research
so you can advise your client on a proposed course of
action fully apprised of current law.

TERMS |
|
| |
 |
I generally bill at the same rate you have negotiated
with your client, but am willing to discuss any payment
arrangement which would satisfy your client and you.
You may pass along the cost of my assistance as "research
services," or you can provide your client with
a copy of my bill. If I conduct an appeal, I can bill
the client directly, and the trial attorney need not
be involved. In either case, my bills contain a detailed
accounting of time and costs.
